The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of our School was celebrated on 15th July 2023 with great devotion. This day marks the Foundation Day of the Apostolic Carmel congregation which was founded by Venerable Mother Veronica, Foundress of the Aposlotic Carmel in 1868 at Bayonne, France.
The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist which was attended by all catholic students and teachers. Rev Fr. Onil D Souza was the main Celebrant. It was followed by the cultural programme hosted by grade V B.
The programme began with a solemn prayer service that highlighted the importance of grace towards growth in divine intimacy followed by the spectacular welcome dance. A skit on the importance of Brown Scapular was enacted and gave the message that whoever wears this will be protected from all danger and harm. Then a thrilling entertainment dance was performed by our students. The Chief guest for the occasion was Sr Preena A.C the Vice Principal. A gracious welcome was given by our dear Principal Sr. Maria Gracilda with a potted sapling. The Chief guest in her speech said that “Carmel refers to a garden and each and every student needs to be a beautiful flower in the garden of Carmel”. Sr Gracilda the principal also enlightened the students about the contribution of Mother Veronica in pioneering the Congregation and Apostolic Carmel Sisters towards education and other words of mercy. She also highlighted that our life is like a mountain and we need to cross all the obstacles of life and travel through it and reach the goal of our life. Significance and the importance of this day was also shown through a video presentation. The celebration was concluded on a happy note by greeting everyone a happy feast and by distributing sweets to all the children. It was indeed a great day for all the teachers and the students.
The programme was compered by Raizel Serrao and D. S Varun. Nishma Hegde beautifully welcomed the gathering. Significance of the day was well articulated by Jerwin Mendonca. Vote of thanks was proposed by Chrystal Sequeira.
Later the offertory items collected during the Mass were distributed to the poor and needy families of the locality.
