On 29th July 2024 Carmel School Moodbidri celebrated a combined event for International Friendship Day and World Grandparents’ Day. This unique celebration aimed to honour the invaluable contributions of grandparents while also emphasizing the importance of friendship across generations. The event brought together students, parents, grandparents and friends for a day filled with joy, learning and heartfelt connections.
The celebration commenced with a welcoming speech by Tr Stefnie who highlighted the theme of the event Bridging Generations through Friendship and Love. The program included a variety of performances and activities that celebrated both occasions.
The Master of Ceremony was conducted by Rainelle, Smayan, Durga, and Shaiban. The event began with a soulful prayer song Grade II B setting a serene and respectful tone for the day's proceedings. This was followed by a welcome speech given by Marvel Cia Fernandes, Dylan D'cunha and Leon George of Grade I A. They warmly greeted the grandparents and all attendees.
Talented students from Grade II B performed an energetic dance captivating the audience with their enthusiasm and grace. This was followed by an action song by the GradeII A further delighting everyone with their coordinated and lively performance.
Not to be outdone Grade I A students also showcased their talent with a beautiful dance. Avani Jain, Adeesh Prabhu, Zoya Yusuf and Arham Ishthyak Khan explained the significance of the day highlighting the importance of grandparents in our lives.
The esteemed Guest Mr John Cyril Menezes, benefactor of our school then shared their thoughts and experiences emphasizing the importance of respecting and cherishing our grandparents. They urged parents to nurture these values in their children.
Sr Maria Gracilda A.C.the Principal delivered an inspiring speech expressing deep appreciation for the presence and efforts of the grandparents. A touching video was shown conveying a heartfelt message to respect and thank grandparents.
The program continued with the distribution of greeting cards to the grandparents, a gesture that brought smiles and warm feelings all around.
A series of fun games were organized engaging the grandparents and creating joyous memories. Following this the prize distribution was held to acknowledge and reward participation and efforts.
The event concluded with a sincere vote of thanks delivered by Lara of Grade II B expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration. Overall the event featured an array of interactive activities designed to engage both students, parents and grandparents fostering intergenerational bonds and celebrating friendship.
Various activities were conducted in the classroom such as crafting Friendship day cards, designing family trees and creating puppets showcasing students' creativity and enthusiasm. The initiative taken by the Management and Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C. to celebrate this day was commendable and also well appreciated by grandparents and parents. The event concluded on a high note with refreshments served to all attendees leaving everyone with wonderful memories of a well-organized and meaningful celebration.
