On 23rd August 2024 the school auditorium was the venue for an inspiring session on "Choices in Life and Social Media" presented by the esteemed resource persons Fr. Dony Cardoza CSsR and Fr. Ashwil Dias CSsR. The event commenced with a solemn prayer service led by Sir Prajwal and his team setting a reflective tone for the students from Grade 6 to Grade 10 who were in attendance.
The session skillfully moderated by M.C. Sejal began with a warm welcome by students Rionna and Noronha. Our Principal Sr.Maria Gracilda A.C extended a gesture of welcome by presenting a potted plant to the resource persons symbolizing growth and nurturing themes that would be echoed throughout the session. Fr. Dony opened the discussion with a profound question "Why are we here?" He captivated the audience with the story of the bamboo tree using it as a metaphor to explain the importance of choices in life. His narrative highlighted the principle that "As we sow, so shall we reap" and emphasized that God has a beautiful plan for each of His creations. He encouraged the students to focus on their goals, underscoring that the choices we make are within our control, much like a farmer who must work diligently to cultivate his crops. Fr. Dony's parting words, "I don't know my future, but I know who holds my future," left a lasting impression on the audience.
Fr. Ashwil then addressed the critical topic of social media raising awareness about its potential dangers and the importance of security. He illustrated the consequences of misuse with real-life examples urging students to make informed and responsible choices online. Engaging videos were shown to reinforce the message motivating students to make the right choices and stay focused on their goals. Fr. Ashwil also discussed the benefits and limitations of social media ensuring a balanced perspective.
The sessions were not only informative but also interactive with students actively participating in singing and discussions making the experience both educational and enjoyable.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Cristal Sequeira bringing the session to a close on a note of gratitude and reflection. As a token of gratitude mementoes were given to the resource persons.
This session was a significant step in guiding students towards making thoughtful choices in life and navigating the complexities of social media with awareness and responsibility.
