On a bright and energetic morning of 29th August 2024, Carmel School Moodbidri celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm. The event was meticulously organized, reflecting the importance of sports and physical activity in the lives of students. The program commenced with a warm welcome extended to all attendees by the lively MCs of the day, Khushi H Poojary, Viyon Dsouza, Myra Mascarenhas and Ayush Rian Serrao.
The celebration began with a powerful opening remark by Khushi, setting the tone for the day by highlighting the significance of sports in character building and life lessons. Myra added to this sentiment by sharing how sports teach us to play by rules, experience victory and defeat, and ultimately prepare us for life.
The highlight of the event was the tribute to the legendary Major Dhyan Chand, whose birthday is commemorated as National Sports Day. Ayush passionately echoed Major Dhyan Chand's words, reminding everyone of the dedication and patriotism that sports embody. The students paid homage to the hockey legend's legacy, inspiring all present to strive for excellence in their respective fields.
The program continued with a soulful prayer led by students, setting a serene atmosphere. Following this, Siona Sequeira delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, acknowledging the presence of all dignitaries and participants.
The significance of National Sports Day was then elaborated by Ayush Rian Serrao, Ananya Kini, and their peers, who enlightened the audience on the historical and cultural importance of this day. Their insights deepened the understanding of why sports are celebrated with such reverence.
The event was further enlivened by a series of performances, starting with a drill by students, which was met with applause from the audience. The vibrancy of the event was amplified with a dance performance by the girls and boys, showcasing their enthusiasm and energy.
The boys from various classes then demonstrated actions from different sports, reflecting their skills and the spirit of teamwork. This was followed by the much-anticipated arrival of the dignitaries on the dais. Tr Anitha introduced the esteemed chief guest, Tarina Rita Pinto Lecturer at S N M Polytechnic Moodbidri, who delivered an inspiring speech. She encouraged students to actively participate in sports and praised the program's organization. Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C.the principal, extended her heartfelt appreciation to the students of Grade II A and their class teacher, Tr. Shobha for their outstanding program. Sr. Preena. A.C.the Vice Principal, also addressed the gathering emphasizing the importance of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals. Her words of wisdom resonated with both students and teachers, reminding them of the role sports play in overall development.
As the event drew to a close, Delisha Rajesh Poojary delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the program. The day ended on a high note, leaving everyone motivated to embrace sports as an integral part of life.
Students of kindergarten , Lkg and Ukg too conducted various activities which included information about various sports and the equipment used in games such as hockey, cricket, basketball, and badminton. To make the day memorable, a series of games were conducted for the children, creating an atmosphere of joy and excitement. The students eagerly participated in these activities, showcasing their sporting talents and spirit of fair play.
Adding to the vibrant celebration, students from Lkg to III also performed synchronized drills with props like ribbons, and pom-poms, displaying remarkable coordination and teamwork. The students, dressed in a variety of colours—pink, red, white, and more—added a visually stunning element to the event, with each class representing a uniform colour, symbolizing unity and school spirit.
Overall, the National Sports Day celebration at Carmel School Moodbidri was a resounding success, filled with educational insights, dynamic performances, and inspiring speeches, making it a memorable event for all.
