"He who plants a tree, plants a hope"
Vanmahotsava is a most celebrated festival of planting saplings. In an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the school environment and sensitise our students of their role in conserving it, Carmel school celebrated Vanmahotsava on 11th July 2023. The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instill in the students the value of social responsibility towards safeguarding trees and forest cover. The programme began with a prayer service acknowledging God for giving all of us life and plants and for creating us to be Co-Creators to maintain life.
A mime show was showcased with the theme "Plant more trees". The theme was well depicted through their choice of music, action and movements. A theme dance was also performed by the students which brought cheerful smiles over everyone’s face. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest of the day Shri Manjunatha Ganiga, Deputy Range Forest Officer, Moodbidri. A gracious welcome was offered to him by Sr Preena A C the Vice Principal with a potted sapling. In his address, Mr. Manjunath Ganiga shared the importance of this day and encouraged the students to plant more trees. His words of encouragement to plant saplings had a great effect on everyone. The teachers and students of all the classes were filled with gratitude to God for this beautiful and marvellous work ofCreation and celebrate this event by spreading joy.
To keep the spirit of this day vibrant, various activities were conducted in the respective classes like slogan writing, poster making, drawing, badge making, book mark making, planting the saplings in the school garden, distributing the various saplings in the neighborhood, exchanging saplings with the classmates, speaking about the importance of medicinal plants and many more. The classrooms were decorated with balloons and potted plants. This motive was taken to educate and make a habit for children to respect and care for the plants. The programme was well compered by Uvel Sachi Fernandes.
Joswin Lobo welcomed the Audience. Significance of the day was beautifully articulated by Hiba Sheikh and vote of thanks was proposed by Sujan.
The school was buzzing with activities planned for the students. It was indeed an informative and fruitful day.
